HOW
The wear scale was developed
EXPLORE
A literature review and interviews were conducted to zero in on what exactly was being measured.
WRITE
An item pool of 97 potential scale items was generated from the previous data.
ENGAGE
A review with 3 subject-matter experts was conducted to revise items according to expert opinion.
STUDY
To acquire data for 3 wearable devices and test scale validity, 527 participants took part in 2 different studies.
ASSESS
Assessment of tested devices and exploratory factor analysis led to established scale and identifying driving social acceptability factors.
RELIABILITY
Cronbach’s Alpha and Spearman-Brown prediction formula were employed to optimize scale length and show reliability.
VALIDITY
Study proved to demonstrate relationships with related measures were as hypothesized and validity of final WEAR Scale confirmed.
