As we wrap Project Opus, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the journey that brought us here. Over the past 10 weeks, we’ve tackled the challenge of creating an AI-powered political transparency tool. The project has been equal parts ambitious, rewarding, and collaborative.
In the early weeks, we dove deep into understanding the challenges people face when trying to navigate clear, unbiased information and when AI is at play. We explored potential markets a tool could serve such as social media, health, politics, shopping and virtual communication. Ultimately, we decided to pursue the political use case as it’s a space that regularly experiences bias, misinformation, and echo chambers. Those insights shaped the two initial concepts we developed: one offered a more guided, hands-on experience, while the other took a passive, low-effort approach.
User feedback quickly made it clear that both approaches had value, and the real opportunity was in combining their strengths. So, that’s exactly what we did! Through thoughtful iteration and refinement, we built a unified solution designed to empower users with accurate, relevant political insights…on users’ individual terms.
Features like the Daily Snapshot, Personal Newscast, Content Analysis, and Practice Ballot came to life through multiple design sprints, user tests, and fine-tuning. In the end, hearing participants describe the tool as something they’d genuinely use was the ultimate validation of our work over the last 10 weeks.
Now, we’re thrilled to share the final product with you. This demo video brings everything together and showcases how Poli is designed to make political engagement easier, more transparent, and more actionable.
Thank you for following along with us on this journey!
